bio
Haruka Teramoto is a moving image artist who explores the formal conditions of cinema — frame rate and placement, the fixed viewpoint, the precise yet incomplete nature of photographic recording — as both poetic conditions and subject matter. His characteristic methods are the superimposition of disparate elements, transformation and misreading, and poetic enumeration.
His current central concerns include: the dissolution of difference through acceleration and its conversion into equivalence; a critique of the feed through such meditative self-dissolution; the hallucinated simultaneity produced by alternating frame placement; the reciprocal tactility this induces in conjunction with the fixed viewpoint; and the declaration of pain and the emergence of a circuit of care.
