Haruka Teramoto is a moving image artist who explores the formal conditions of cinema — frame rate and placement, the fixed viewpoint, the precise yet incomplete nature of photographic recording — as both poetic conditions and subject matter. His characteristic methods are the superimposition of disparate elements, transformation and misreading, and poetic enumeration.
He misuse standards designed for measurement and recording in order to handle what they were never meant to handle. In the in-between of fragments cut apart and laid over one another, a third reality arises — one that has no physical existence. Its site is not the screen, but the perception of the viewer.
寺本遥は、映像の形式的条件——フレームの速度や配置・視点の固定・精確で不完全な記録性など——を詩的条件または主題として探求する映像作家です。典型的な手法は、異なる要素の重畳、変換と誤読、列挙です。
計測と記録のために設計された規格を、それが本来扱えないものを扱うために誤用します。切断され重ね合わされた断片の間に、物理的には存在しない第三の実在が立ち上がります。その場所は画面の中ではなく、見る者の知覚の上にあります。
